What a friend we have in Jesus. A Song and phrase that has stood the test of time; and never has it been so poignant in my life until now. The rejection, hurt, misunderstanding, as well as happiness from those you considered to be friends. Likewise, those whom you wanted to befriend. At this very moment, God has provided me with the unexplainable concept: He allows those to come into your life for a reason, season, or lifetime. I was the starring role in my story and others were supportive cast members. My scene had now arrived, where all those I thought would show up were actually in transition. No, it did not mean it was time for them to exit necessarily. Although some in fact, did. However, everyone had grown and evolved into something more than we were yesterday (or set out to be).
Here alone, I stood in my season. Without as many friends in which I began. Nevertheless, God reminded me that my time had come. My moment to shine was here and now, and this particular trek would require less weight and baggage than I previously assumed. Better yet, their roles had brought me to this very place of knowing and truly acknowledging His role in my life. Wisdom and strength were gathered during my highs as well as lows with them. As a result, I was ready for all that lie ahead without their physical or emotional presence. My eyes are now opened to the meaning of true friendship with the one who would always be there. With Him, I could give all that was heavy and light. Through Him, I can find restoration, acceptance, and peace. I do not have to perform or be someone other than myself. He provides a place of safety where I am allowed to be real like no other. Furthermore, He never hesitates to answer my call. Jesus, the best friend I would ever have- for seasons, reasons, and my lifetime.
Proverbs 18:24 (NIV) A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
In what way has Jesus shown you to be a friend like no other?
