Month: April 2014
I failed….again. God, how can I overcome this area- this sin, in my life? Has that thought ever crossed your mind? Recently I taught a class entitled, Battlefield of the Mind for Teens. Written by Joyce Meyer, this book packs a heavy punch when dealing with stressors in life and defeating the enemy. As Christians, our enemy (the devil) would love to see us entrenched in sin. God reminded me all that was taught in class. As I retraced my steps, the Holy Spirit answered the question of why victory over this obstacle appeared out of grasp. It’s prescription to overcome is basic, yet profound.
You don’t have a strategy……
You have the tools, but you’re not using them…….
You have the tools, but don’t know how to use them…
If you find yourself in one (or all) of the above, you’re not alone. Every boxer, athlete, and team has a plan to beat their competitor. Like them, we should know how our opponent operates and proceed accordingly. What I’ve discovered is this: We cannot win a spiritual battle with physical tactics. Ephesians 6:12 (New International Version)- For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
Do you have a plan and is it a great plan? This week, I’ll provide you with three weapons we must utilize in moving forward and winning the fight!
#1- The Word of God (Bible)
Can you imagine not eating everyday? The daily food we eat gives us physical nourishment. Without eating, we would be frail and hungry. Lacking the strength and energy needed to go about our lives. God’s Word, in turn strengthens us spiritually and gives us tools on everyday living. Reading and digesting it daily has the ability to transform our lives….if we let it.
Hebrews 4:12 (New International Version ) – For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
His Word is powerful, life changing, and true. Do you want to defeat your enemy? By reading His Word and applying it, you’ll have the tools to stand and have the victory!
Here’s a tip: Whatever you’re struggling with, God has a remedy. Whether it’s blatantly stated or inferred, there’s a scripture to help. Ex: healing, lust, loneliness, etc. Typing “bible scriptures on healing” can lead you in the right direction. If you need assistance, please drop an email.
…..Stay tuned for Weapon #2 on Wednesday.
