Don’t Lose Hope!

I heard a song the other day, and it reminded me of him. You’ve been there right? Thoughts of the past and comfort of having someone there, especially when you’re in God’s waiting room. In fact, it began two weeks ago. My mind was in memory lane mode. Little by little, doubt crept in and invited itself without warning. Reminiscing on what God took away and truth be told, what I did not want either. But, familiarity feels so good at times. Reading a post, reminded me that I was still single. In fact, I’ve been “Dee, party of one” longer than expected. To be used by God is wonderful. However, I never anticipated He would use me in this way. Pen to paper, I encourage myself as I encourage you.

God has not forgotten. In fact, it’s going according to His Master plan. As tempting as can be, never doubt Him. The plans have already been set and laid like the awesome Master Architect He is. Not knowing all the details is part of building your Faith. We can only take one day at a time, and each day brings us closer to His promise. Against all hope, please believe that He knows, He cares, and you’re not alone. He’s a promise keeper……..

Romans 4:18-22

Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead—since he was about a hundred years old—and that Sarah’s womb was also dead. Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised. This is why “it was credited to him as righteousness.

Stay Connected!

These days, the cell phone industry is a billion dollar empire.  You have some who will constantly upgrade as a new concept  emerges.  Or, you have those like me- pretty satisfied with what I have and will only upgrade once my contract is over!  🙂  But no matter if you are keeping up with the Jones’, we all have something in common.  We want to stay connected with our peers and family, and willing to go to great lengths in doing so.  We even go as far as bringing our power cords with us (car, work, etc), ensuring that we have enough power to stay in touch.  God forbid we don’t have enough power for our phones to continue working throughout the day.  I don’t know about you, but whenever I leave without my phone I just don’t feel right.  It’s as if something is missing.  And as a result, I’m left with a recurring question of whose call did I miss?

While taking care of business one afternoon, I sat in the reception area waiting for my name to be called.  That day, I felt as though something was missing.  Wallet-check. Phone-check. House keys-check.  Nothing in my physical presence was missing, but I knew where my emptiness came.  I was missing my quiet times with God.  It didn’t start that day.  However, my lack started weeks ago.  Little by little, I allowed things like facebook, reality tv, and even ministry work  take up my time.  If given a grade for quality time with Him….I would receive an F.

What’s your relationship status with Christ? So many times waiting on God’s promise for marriage can become an idol. Seeing others’ change their relationship status from single to relationship or engaged can send our emotional alarm off. Moving from rest to impatience. The initial relationship and zeal we found with Him may not be our current status. Temptation to compare or move out of His safety too soon surrounds us. I’ve discovered that being intentional about quality time with God, will help us stay on track and keep our heart strings in check.

Our God is a jealous God and I naively assumed that I could survive foregoing moments without Him.  On the contrary! My consequence of neglect was revealed through emptiness and feeling powerless. My countenance was affected, permeating to different areas and relationships in my life. Oh how I missed Him!  In Him, I have peace, power, and purpose.  Without Him, I’m just like my cell phone trying to operate with very little or no power.

In order for our phones to work at all times, they have to be charged.  In order for us to function and go through life (daily activities, standing firm in our faith), we must be and stay connected to God!  I cannot expect my life to transform according to His Word if I am not connected.  I cannot expect to handle work, household, school, or ministry if I am not connected.  Furthermore, lost of connection can (and most likely will) result in defeat.  Let us not forget our adversary who is waiting for us to fall at all costs!  Let’s make up our minds to get connected and stay connected! Plugging into Christ through daily prayer and reading of His Holy Book!   When we’re plugged in, we can have peace in the midst of our storms, hear His voice, endure our circumstances, and do whatever we are called to do!  The results of remaining in Him are life changing!   When we stay connected, we build true intimacy with Him.   If you’re looking for someone to connect to – hook up with Jesus! His power and love is endless.  Take some time out and let Him speak to you concerning His plans for your life.  You’ll never have to worry about following the status quo, because with Him- you’re ALWAYS on the upgrade!

*Can you give Him fifteen minutes of your time? Worship, pray, read God’s Word, or talk to Him as you would a dear friend. He’s waiting for your invite*

John 15: 1-5 (NIV) “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.  He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will even be more fruitful.  You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.  Remain in me, as I also remain in you.  No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.  I am the vine you are the branches.  If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”

God Bless!
