Be Patient!

Previously posted- I needed to remind myself that patience and rest is vital. God knows best. Enjoy

Driving home from work, I was in MAJOR attitude mode.  Why?  Only because I was on God’s timetable. And that day, I must have looked at my watch only to conclude that it was time to have what I wanted.  To top it off, this happenstance occurred on a Friday!  Fridays should be filled with looking forward to fun and freedom.  The nerve of me to have attitude, right?  🙂 As God would have it, He gave me a sobering check and reminded me (at a red light) what took place earlier with my customer.  Speaking with my client, her three year old son kept pulling on her arm and said, “I’m ready to go”!  Imagine if you will, his “telling” was complimented by various pouts, and ‘ants-in-the-pants syndrome’.  Clearly, he had places to go and my office wasn’t it.  His mother tried to calm him down by saying, we’re almost done.  But to his dismay, almost wasn’t good enough.  Finally the time came to exit the building, and sure enough he led the way.

God led me back to that scene because just like that child, I too was ready to go!  Wanting my season to change at that moment.  No, I didn’t throw a fit that could be seen outwardly.  However, I too was pouting on the inside and channeling ants-in-the-pants syndrome.  One look at me, you could tell I was bothered about something.  You see, I wanted what I wanted- when I wanted it.  But patience is apparently my chosen fruit of this season.  Just as God would have it, He gave me a word.  And yes, He gave it to me while driving home.

Philippians 4: 6-7 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (NKJ)

Our Father knows our hearts and thoughts.  Rest assured He understands what we’re going through.  In His loving perspective, He knows that we can sit on His shelf a little longer.  If released too early, it can very well be detrimental to our spiritual growth and everyone connected to us. Ask Him to help you rest in His presence while waiting for your season to come. Impossible? No. Challenging? Yes. Will He help you? Absolutely!

As He spoke to my heart, peace resonated my being.  I understood that my trusting in Him also included trusting in His timing. Right then and there, I imagined placing my hand in His.  Allowing Him to lead the way, I decided to hold tight and just be patient.

James 1:4- But let patience have it’s perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. (NKJ)

What is God teaching YOU about patience?
