Perfect Fit

A couple of months ago, I was in the GAP clothing store. Not looking for anything in particular, I headed toward the clearance area. Hey, a girl is always up for a bargain! As I sifted through various racks, my eyes fell on a dark green jacket. Its color reminded me that fall was near and the style screamed army chic. With one look, I was in love. I had to try it on, so off to the dressing room I went. As I put the jacket on, I knew instantly! I was officially head over heels in love! The color bounced off my skin, giving my eyes a sparkle. In addition this jacket proved to be versatile- dressed up or dressed down. All in all, it complimented me so much so, I looked forward to pairing with other items in my closet. Looking at myself admiringly, I had to admit, I looked good!  I thought to myself, wow! Feeling as though it were tailor made for me. The arm lengths were perfect and zipping the jacket up was effortless-not too loose or too snug. It was just right! At that moment (in the dressing room), God spoke to my heart reminding me of our conversation the night before. You see, I had questions pertaining to relationships. However, one stood out from among the rest. Lord, how will I know the one you have destined for me? Being a Christian single, I knew my role as a woman was to allow myself to be found instead of taking on the role of pursuant.

Proverbs 18:22- Whoso findeth a wife, findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the Lord. (KJV)

Never did I anticipate God answering that question in the midst of a favorite hobby of mine, shopping. He is full of surprises! As I took a look at myself wearing the jacket, I knew the answer to my question. He spoke to me- not in a loud audible voice, but in a way where you knew God was speaking. In that instant, the answer was revealed: Just as I stumbled upon the jacket and tried it on for size, I realized the treasure I had found. I no longer had or wanted to try on other items in the store. I knew this jacket was for me. It was the one! Making my way out of the store, I thanked God for answering my prayer. This question was finally put to rest! I now understood parents and friends when given the answer of, “you’ll just know”. And most importantly, I no longer doubted that He would put that knowing in my spirit and heart. May you also, lay your questions at His feet and trust that He will answer your prayers in His way. Having no doubt in my mind, I knew that one day, in His timing I would recognize the one He had ordained. Would he be perfect? No, but I know he will be the perfect fit for me!

Genesis 24:12-15, 21, 26 (NKJ) – And he said, O Lord God of my master Abraham, I pray thee, send me good speed this day, and shew kindness unto my master Abraham. Behold, I stand here by the well of water; and the daughters of the men of the city come out to draw water: And let it come to pass, that the damsel to whom I shall say, Let down thy pitcher, I pray thee, that I may drink; and she shall say, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also: let the same be she that thou hast appointed for thy servant Isaac; and thereby shall I know that thou has shewed kindness unto my master. And it came to pass, before he had done speaking, that, behold Rebekah came out….

Verse 21-And the man wondering at her held his peace, to wit whether the Lord had made his journey prosperous or not.

Verse 26-And the man bowed down his head and worshipped the Lord.
