Pressing On- Finding the Beauty in the Middle

Driving in my car, I often have quiet moments with the Lord.  Loving to drive long distances (sometimes with the radio off), It’s my opportune time to collect my thoughts and focus on the day’s agenda. During this particular moment, my heart was heavy with a specific burden.  Likewise, feelings of hope consumed me as I thought of all wisdom gained. Both personal and spiritual.

I knew my faith was being tested, yet I had to go through until I reached the end of my story.

Better yet the end of that chapter.  Growing up, I always had a deep love and appreciation for books.  So engrossed in my novels, I was transfixed page by page-looking forward to seeing what the end would bring.

As God would have it, He connected my love of books with my momentary dilemma. This “test” was something I had not planned or thought I would undergo.

It was as though I were reading this fabulous novel. Purely in the thick of it, and watching this specific plot of the story unfold.

The only way I would know the ending- was to read page by page.

I could skip to the end, but I would be oblivious to all that had to take place to reach my ordained destination.

As if being on a roller coaster, the twists and turns in my plot would eventually bring me to end of that specific chapter.

A Good Read

In essence, our lives are great novels- full of detours, roadblocks, or level planes.

Each chapter representing seasons in our lives:  joys of growth as well as “seemingly” setbacks.

In the middle, you find out just what you’re made of.

Most of all, you’re introduced (or re-introduced) to another layer of our Great God.

As much as our middles in life bring us great lessons and insight, they’re often packaged through pain and frustration.    But don’t stop there. Do not allow the weight of your middle to blind you of the great ending that’s in store!  There’s more to see and learn.

And lest not forget, many people are depending on you to get through the middle of your fabulous story.   To my brothers and sisters, I say- PRESS ON AND DON’T GIVE UP! Page by page and day by day, let’s see what your end is going to be!

Philippians 3:13-14 Brethern, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.  (KJV)
