WARROOM – 2 Life Changing Tools that Will Impact Your Season of Waiting

The past couple of weeks have been hard. I felt distant from God and doubted His Love, Care, and Faithfulness. Looking back, I should have seen the shift in my relationship. Staying connected to Him was replaced by Worry– God will you hold to your promise? Fear– fear of being alone, and Impatience– God is it time?. And yet, He made it very clear that He cared and was with me in this season. I’ve discovered that just like marriage, singleness can also have highs and lows that range from contentment to discontent. However, no matter the season our role as Christians remain the same: Knowing who we belong to and utilizing the tools He’s given us.

Recently, I saw the movie Warroom. After hearing so many rave reviews, I finally got to see what everyone was talking about. And I understood. The impact, hope, and steps of action drew me in. Causing me to pause and consider whether I was truly utilizing the weapons God had given to everyone: His Word and Prayer.

I knew the plot revolved around a marriage and all the intricacies that went along with it. However, before the film began I knew instinctively that singles too, could also benefit in knowing how to  gain, wisdom, momentum, and peace with God. If we want to thrive in this season, I believe using these weapons are a must:

  • Prayer is Powerful- God is the only one who we can talk to without fear and shame. He is available anytime and anywhere. In fact, He longs for you to communicate with Him. I recently read that before we talk to anyone, we should start our day with talking to God. Through prayer, God gives us guidance, peace, and the strength to stand. This powerful weapon is a tool that draws us near to God.

Matthew 6:5-6And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

  • The Word of God is our Sword- I believe one of the biggest things the enemy will do is keep us from knowing who we are and knowing what we can have. As Christians, knowing our identity is key to believing God and fighting lies the devil will feed us. Rehearsing the promises of God will help us keep the Faith and lead us to victory.

Hebrews 4:12-  For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Both of these tools lead us to what I like to call Intimacy with the Almighty. In fact our strength depends on how often we pray, read, and apply His Word. Feeling defeated, impatient, worrisome, and lonely can be thwarted when we go to the One who knows us best and has already ordered our steps.

Besides, knowing how to engage in warfare now as a single- will prove to be instrumental when our season comes. May we all pursue Christ intentionally and purposeful through consistent prayer and feeding our souls with His Word.

Have you seen Warroom? If so, tell me what you’ve gained from it. I would love to hear from you!

  1. I agree, the past two weeks have been hard for a single. I saw War Room the weekend that it hit theaters. It was AWESOME. I, like many others left the cushioned seats with so much hope, joy, love and peace. I am so encouraged to strengthen my prayer time. I am going to look into praying not just for the tangible things but for the intangible for that is what He is truly concerned about.

    1. Thanks for commenting! This movie truly brought out the warrior in me. I felt so empowered and really had to do a self-check. Being intentional about how I spend my time with Him will be key for me. Taking the focus off my desires and putting roots down in His Word is needed in my life. My prayer is for consistency and that I worship Him all the more during this wait. God Bless you.

  2. I was filled with so many emotions during the movie. I took a peek at my husband to see if he was watching the movie and I saw him wipe a tear off his face.

    1. I’m so glad you and your husband saw this movie together! I love how God will draw us in using so many methods. I pray that you two draw ever so closely to God individually and as a couple. Thank you for your response!

  3. This is SO true–>>Before we talk to anyone, we should start our day with talking to God. I’ve been feeling a little distant from the Lord for the past couple of weeks and He reminded me that I was neglecting my devotions. This morning I read and prayed before I even checked my cell phone and the difference in that one simple intention is just amazing. Thank you SO much for this reminder.

Yes! I saw War Room with my mother a few weeks ago and it was wonderful. I haven’t started my prayer closet yet, but I intend too. Blessings…Simone
